Merry Business

Most of us in direct sales take a bit of a break this time of year. Today is the last day to order with my company if you want guaranteed delivery by Christmas without paying extra. I imagine it’s about the same for most other companies. For many of us that means that this will be the last time we think about business until after the first of the year.

I think a bit of a break is a good thing. We all need a break, and this time of year it’s important to focus on family. I would never want to work a family gathering like I’d work a fair, expo, or networking event. I won’t be making sales calls on Christmas Eve.

That said, it’s probably not a good idea to take three weeks off and do nothing at all. This is a great time of year to concentrate on customer care. I’ll be calling to make sure that recent customers love the products they purchased. It’s also a really good time to do a little extra host coaching for those January hosts.

A slowdown is good over the holidays. Allowing business to come to a screeching halt isn’t.
