Yes, I’m a Larry the Cable Guy fan. I’m also someone who likes to finish what I start.
Have you ever gotten to the end of the day and realized that out of the eight things on your list you actually accomplished only two? Does that make you feel frustrated? I have a solution. Think about the things that you accomplished that weren’t on the list. Now write them on your list and cross them off.
It sounds really weird, but having a record of what you got accomplished can help you get over that feeling that you failed because you didn’t complete your list.
Finally, look at the list again. Cross off anything that can be eliminated. Move what really needs to be done to a fresh list for tomorrow. Be realistic about your list. Make sure there’s some wiggle room for life to add extra stuff.
Having a plan is great. Feeling like you’ve failed because you didn’t complete everything is not.
