Let Me Think about That

Did you know that it’s not usually necessary to give someone a definitive answer right at the moment they asked? That’s right. It’s perfectly okay in most instances to say that you’ll give it some thought.

You see, it’s not enough for something to be a good cause. It’s not enough for something to be a good thing to do. It’s not enough for them to need another warm body. What you need to consider is whether you are the one to do what’s being asked of you. Do you have the time? Do you have the skills needed? Does it fit into your priorities? Is it what you’re called to do?

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that you should never agree to do anything that doesn’t fall into your grand purpose. What I’m saying is that you don’t have to agree to do everything that’s asked of you. Give it a little time, thought, and prayer.
