Working from home is sometimes tough. There are lots of distractions. There are lots of opportunities to do non-productive work. You know what I’m talking about. You notice that your desk is messy, so you spend time straightening things. You notice that your files need to be cleaned out, so you take the time to weed out old files. Those things are important, but they aren’t productive to your business.
Then there are the people distractions. The phone rings. An email comes in. A spouse, child, or friend interrupts you. You need to be able to say, ‘I’m sorry, I’m working right now.” If you have set hours, you can always tell them, “I can talk with you after [time].” When I’m working I have my cell phone on vibrate. That way I’m away of a call or text. I can check my display when it’s convenient, but I don’t have to answer right away.
If I work during work hours I can play (or take care of other things) the rest of the day.
